Big props for Polly Toynbee, President of the British Humanist Association (BHA)

Well it seems like the dream match up between Dawkins and William Lane Craig [WLC] has turned out to be pie in the sky as I had previously thought. After making millions of pounds from his 'devastating' demolition of all things pertaining to God in his best-selling book 'The God Delusion' he has wimped out from debating WLC who is thought by most to be the chief debater and defender of Christian Theism today. A recent victim of WLC is Sam Harris the author of the best-selling New Atheist book the 'End of Faith' whom had this to say about WLC stating that he was;

“the one Christian apologist who seems to have put the fear of God into my fellow atheists”.

If I was an Atheist I would be rather embarrassed about Dawkins failure to deliver, surely if the case for Christianity was so poor he could at-least turn up as the best defender of New Atheism against the best defender of Christian Theism. Surely he could demonstrate to the UK populace how illogical and weak the case is, but instead he has demonstrated through his actions that he is afraid that WLC can make a good case for the reasonableness of Christian Theism and subsequently that Jesus is someone who must not be ignored. Dawkins is happy to preach to the choir but far from comfortable in an environment where his beliefs will be put to the test.

So moving on from the wimp that is Dawkins, Polly Toynbee the current President of the BHA will be taking part in a debate with WLC on the subject of the existence of God. Good on her, although I clearly disagree with her I can't help but respect her for taking part in what will be a monumental debate. I really do hope she brings the best case for Atheism so that the British public can have something to chew on rather than the usual weak and by now very tiresome New Atheist rhetoric of Dawkins et al.

This has all the promise of making a classic debate so I recommend that if your based in the UK regardless of your beliefs you should make sure you get yourself there.

Not so fast - she wimped out. She clearly didn't know who Lane Craig is and has either bowed to pressure from her humanist vice presidents (who also refuse to debate him), or has relaised his style and oratory ability has her ascerbic rhetoric beaten before she starts.
A shocking u-turn that, simply because of it's reasoning, begs the questions- do humanists have a real argument? or maybe they already know they are logically and morally weak so don't want it recorded.
Hawkins was caught out accidentally in mexico in a huge debate and semi-debated WLC - the humanists did not look either happy or comfortable. That is what happens when the ground you stand on is shown to be weak...
