New Atheist vs Agnostic Biblical scholar Bart Ehrman on the historical Jesus

I listened to this quite a while back but Wintery Knight had reminded me of it earlier today, and thought it provides a great example of how many Atheists can't help but treat anything related to Christianity with a level of scepticism and credulity that's embarrassing. It's comedy gold, I disagree with Ehrman on a great deal of things but he does a great job here at exposing the amateurish historical research of a growing minority of Atheists who think Jesus never existed.

I get bored of discussing this with Atheists who put Jesus on par with Mithras or Horus because they watched some internet documentary that persuaded them Jesus was a myth. Even stranger when its coming from a group of people who are the self-professed beacons of the intelligentsia, yet they often seem utterly gullible when it comes to dealing with anything even mildly related to the Christian world-view, especially in terms of historical Jesus research. I use the term research loosely as it often amounts to just watching Zeitgeist the movie on-line.

Some tips for Atheists and Christians looking into this subject can be found here.

Proverbs 18:17 comes to mind: The first to present his case seems right, till another comes forward and questions him.

That's often the case with much of the New Atheist material, it seems intelligent and revolutionary but in fact after more careful examination behind the rhetoric there is often little substance.

Anyway watch the video and let me know what you thought, its worth watching to the end.

Thanks for posting! It's amazing to me that people still insist on believing that Jesus never existed. The interviewer definitely didn't do his homework, and tragically, the information he heard probably went in one ear and out the other.

INfidel guy exposes his dishonestly with his stupidity, one minute he says "How do we know Paul wrote Galatians" then the next minute he says "I'm not doubting that Paul wrote Galatians"

NEw atheists are always good for a laugh

Yeah he doesn't have a clue what he's talking about...and it shows! Some not all New Atheists will deny anything that simply presents something slightly positive regarding Jesus and Christianity. Its pretty frustrating.
